Lion

The lion ( Panthera leo , obsolete/poetic/dialectal Leu ) is a species of cat. Unlike other cats, it lives in packs, is characterized by the male's mane, and is now native to Africa and the Indian state of Gujarat.

The lion is the second-largest cat after the tiger and thus the largest land predator in Africa. Depending on the subspecies, male lions have a head-body length of 170 to 250 centimeters (including extinct forms), a shoulder height of up to 123 centimeters, and a tail length of around one meter. Adult males have an average body weight of 190 kilograms. The range is from 150 to 225 kg, in exceptional cases up to 272 kg.
