Since 1988 the Maple Leaf has also been issued in silver, weighing 1 ounce and with a nominal value of 5 CAD. In 1998, under the theme 10 years Silver Maple Leaf, a commemorative coinage of 10 troy ounces with a nominal value of 50 CAD and a circulation of 13,500 was issued. Also included was a black leather box and a silver certificate of authenticity.
