Mark was the name of various legal tender of the Soviet occupation zone and the GDR from 1948 to 1990, issued by the German Central Bank from 1948 and by the State Bank of the GDR from 1968. The following currencies denominated in "Mark" were issued in the territory of the GDR:

  • Deutsche Mark of the German Central Bank (DM) 24 July 1948 to 31 July 1964
  • Deutsche Mark of the German Central Bank (MDN) 1 August 1964 to 31 December 1967
  • Mark (M) of the German Democratic Republic (also Mark of the GDR) 1 January 1968 to 30 June 1990
